
Dr Melinda Sykes is a proud pharmacist whose journey began at the University of Southern California School of Pharmacy, where she earned her PhD, followed by a geriatric pharmacy residency at various Veterans Affairs Hospitals. Over the years, Melinda has worked closely with elderly patients, addressing the unique medication-related challenges they face and giving her valuable experience.
Her expertise in polypharmacy, drug interactions and appropriate medication use has allowed her to optimise therapeutic outcomes throughout her professional career. Additionally, she has conducted research on medication adherence and pain-reduction strategies, striving to improve the quality of life for the people she advises.
Dr Sykes has come to appreciate the unique challenges faced by people living with pain disorders and has been long committed to optimising therapy for the specific needs of patients through planning. In her downtime, Dr Sykes embraces swing dancing, which has taught her the value of balance and agility in life. Her passion for dance has also led her to volunteer at senior centres, where she shares the joy of movement with older adults, helping them stay active and engaged.
